މި އަތޮޅުގައި އޮތް 42 ރަށުގެ ތެރެއިން މީހުން ދިރިއުޅެފައިވަނީ 16 ރަށުގައެވެ. ނަމަވެސް އެއަތޮޅު ބެރިންމަދޫ މީހުން 2006 ގައި އެއަތޮޅު ހޯރަފުއްޓަށް ބަދަލުވުމާއި. އަދި އެއަތޮޅު ހަތިފުށީ މީހުން 2007 ގައި ހދ. ހަނިމާދޫއަށް ބަދަލުވުމާއެކު މިހާރު އެއަތޮޅުގައި މީހުން ދިރިއުޅެނީ 14 ރަށުގައެވެ. އަދި މިއަތޮޅަކީ ތާރީޚީގޮތުން މުޅިރާއްޖެއަށް މަޝްހޫރު އަތޮޅެކެވެ. އުތީމު ބޮޑުތަކުރުފާނު ދިރިއުޅުއްވި ގަނޑުވަރު ހުރީވެސް އެއަތޮޅު އުތީމުގައެވެ. ޕޯޗްގީޒުންނާ ދެކޮޅަށް ހަނގުރާމަ ކުރެއްވުމަށް ކަނޑުމަތީގައި ބޭނުންކުރެއްވި އުޅަނދު ( ކަޅުއޮށްފުންމި ) ބެންނެވީ އެއަތޮޅު ބާރަށުގައެވެ. އަދި ބޮޑުތަކުރުފާނުގެ ބޭބޭފުޅު ޢަލިތަކުރުފާނު ދިރިއުޅުއްވީ އެއަތޮޅު ތަކަންދޫގައެވެ. އެހެންކަމުން ހއ. އަތޮޅަކީ ފަޚުރުވެރި ތާރީޚެއް އޮތްއަތޮޅެކެވެ.
