މާލެ އަކީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ވެރިރަށެވެ. އަދި އެންމެ އާބާދީބޮޑު ރަށެވެ. މާލެ އަކީ މާލެ އަތޮޅު( އެައީ ކ.އަތޮޅް)ގެ ދެކުނު ފަރާތުގައިވާ ރަށެކެވެ. ޒަމާނުއްސުރެ މާލެ އަކީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ވެރިކަން ކުރި ރަށެވެ. އަދި ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ރަސްރަސްކަލުން ރަސްކަންކޮށްފައިވާ ރަށެވެ. މާލެއަށް ކުރީގައި މަހަލް އޭވެސް ކިޔުނެވެ. އިހުގައި މާލެ ވަށާ ބޮޑު ފާރުތަކާއި ދޮރޯށި ލެވިފައިވެއެވެ. ރަސްކަމުގެ ގަނޑުވަރާއި ކޯއްޓޭތަކާއި ބުރުޒުތައް ވަނީ އިބްރާހީމް ނާޞިރުގެ ވެރިކަމުގައި ތަޅާލާފައެވެ. އެއީ ރަސްކަން އުވާލެވި ޖުމްހޫއްރިއްޔަތަކަށް ވުމަށްފަހު މާލެ ބަދަލުކުރުމުގެތެރޭގައެވެ. ނަމަވެސް މާލޭ ހުކުރު މިސްކިތް އަދިވެސް ދެމިހުރެއެވެ. ފަހުގެ އަހަރުތަކުގައި މާލެ ވަނީ ހިއްކައިގެން ބޮޑުކޮށްފައެވެ. ނަމަވސް ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ އާބާދީގެ ބޮޑުބައި މާލޭގައި ދިރިއުޅުމުގެ ސަބަބުން މާލެވަނީ ވަރަށް ބޮޑަށް ތޮއްޖެހިފައެވެ. މާލޭ އާބާދީއަކީ ރާއްޖޭގެ ޖުމްލަ އާބާދީގެ ފަސްބައިކުޅަ އެއްބަ އެވެ. މާލޭގައި ވަޒަންވެރި ވެގެން އުޅޭ ރާއްޖޭގެ އެކި ސަރަހައްދުތަކުގެ މީހުންނާ އެކު ރާއްޖޭގެ އާބާދީގެ ތިންބައިކުޅަ އެއްބައި ހިއްސާ ކުރަނީ މާލެ އެވެ.[2]

ނަން

ޤަދީމީ ދުވަސްވަރުގައި މާލެއަށް ކިޔުނު މަހަލް މިނަމުގެ އަސްލު ކަމުގައި ބެލެވިފައިވަނީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއަށް ކިޔުނު މަހަލްދުވިޕާ މިނަމެވެ. ދިވެހިރާއްޖެ އަށް އިނގިރޭސިބަހުން ކިޔާ 'މޯލްޑީވްޒް'ގެ މާނައަކީވެސް މާލޭގެ ރަށްތަކެވެ. އެހެންކަމުން ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއަށް ނަން ދެވިފައިވަނީ މާލެއިންނެވެ.[3]
